SULFACETAMIDE-SODIUM (SULFACYLUM-NATRIUM)

General characteristics:
  international and chemical name: sulfacetamide; para-aniline-sulfacetamide-sodium;
  basic physical-chemical properties: clear colourless or slightly yellowish liquid pH 7,5-8,5;
  composition: 1 ml of solution contains 0,2 g of sodium sulfacetamide;
  auxiliary substances - sodium thiosulphate, hydrochloric acid 0,1 M to pH 8,0, water for injections.
Production form. Ophthalmic drops.
Pharmacological group. S01A B Sulfanilamides. S01A B 04 Sulfacetamide.
Pharmacokinetics. It is not described.
Indications for application. Blepharitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, purulent ulcer of the cornea and other eye diseases. Blennorrhea prophylaxis for neonate infants.
Mode of application and dosage. To open dropper-tube turn the cover until its absolute separation from the body. Apply 1-2 drops three times a day into conjunctival sac of damaged eye by means of slight pressure on dropper-tube walls. In case of blennorrhea prophylaxis for neonate infants apply by 2 drops into each eye of an infant immediately after birth and by 2 drops in 2 h.
Side effect. Sometimes irritation of eye tissue could be observed in the form of burning or reddening.
Contraindications. Presence in medical history of toxic-allergic reactions to sulfanilamides.
Interaction with other medicines. Not determined.
Overdosage. Not described.
Peculiarities of application. Not described.
Conditions and period of storage. Store in cool, dark place. Storage period - 1 year. Shelf life after opening the package - 28 days.
